Welcome!

From Tim Bergling, author of Sissyphobia: Gay Men & Effeminate Behavior.  If you've already read or ordered the book, let me be the first to say thanks; I hope you'll be happy you did. As I say in those pages, researching and writing "Sissyphobia" was very much a personal journey for me, and it's a journey that continues to this day...all of us, including me, have a lot to wonder about--and maybe answer for--when it comes to our attitudes about the "proper" way anyone should behave, or the origins of those behaviors. I would never pretend that I have even a small fraction of the answers; my aim is to get the conversation going. At this site you can drop me an email or even start your own conversation with fellow readers.

Sissyphobia: Gay Men & Effeminate Behavior is my first full-length book, based on an article by the same name I wrote for the September 1997 issue of Genre Magazine. This site is dedicated to my readers as a place for them to explore the fascinating aspects of gay men and their varied behavior.

If you like my work, please take a look at TimBergling.com. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about my other work as well—most of which has been previously published in gay men's magazines.

Thanks for checking out "Sissyphobia" on the web!
